Swedish massage is generally a full-body massage designed to increase venous blood return to the heart. It’s a soothing, relaxing treatment that’s generally the best option when you seek to decrease emotional stress.

Deep-tissue massage increases arterial blood flow to an area. The work is deeper than in Swedish massage and can break up some connective tissue adhesions. This type of massage is best applied to acute injuries to help prevent stiffness and preserve range of motion.

Neuromuscular therapy and myofascial release are the most advanced types of massage therapy available. The massage therapist works with the body’s soft tissues to increase circulation, break up scar tissue/adhesions, decrease muscle tension, eliminate trigger points, promote relaxation and relieve pain. Neuromuscular therapy and myofascial release work best for clients with chronic conditions, as they help relieve ongoing pain.

With regular therapeutic massage during pregnancy, the mother-to-be can experience a greater sense of well-being. Prenatal massage promotes relaxation, improved circulation and relief of common discomforts. When mom is relaxed and pain-free, the baby benefits as well. Additionally, massage therapy during pregnancy can help relieve headaches, reduce fatigue and stress, ease backaches and leg cramps, reduce swelling, increase muscle flexibility and provide overall comfort for your changing body.

The massage therapist Denver, CO trusts is at CCWC. All therapists are medically trained and have completed prenatal massage courses. We provide complete privacy for disrobing and use proper draping techniques throughout the massage. We use massage tables with a center cutout that allows the expectant mother to enjoy her treatment while lying face-down.

If you have a high-risk pregnancy, please check with your physician or midwife to determine whether massage is appropriate. Massage is not indicated if you are experiencing:

  • Severe morning sickness
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
